[It's been raining for days and Applejack is getting bored. She found the farm not too long after she arrived, and the rain wasn't exactly stopping her from tending to everything, but the weather's turn for the worse today is definitely an impediment. And so, she's cooped up inside, running out of things to do. But hey, that's what this journal is here for, right?]

How come nopony told me 'bout this farm y'all got here? This is great! It just needs some more apple trees and it'll be just like home. Or... well, as close as Ah can get it. But that reminds me...

Have any of y'all ever heard'a zap apples? They're magic, but they're downright tasty an' real particular 'bout how they're grown an' harvested. Mah Granny Smith's the one who normally makes all the jam an' such, but if Ah can grow some zap apples here, Ah'd sure be happy ta share whatever Ah can make. Might not be quite as good, but Ah think Ah've picked up a thing'er two. Anypony got any ideas?

[It's something to think about, at least! Something that isn't baking more apple fritters, in any case.]

Thank ya kindly, but... Lightnin's definitely part of it, but there's a whole lotta steps to gettin' the harvest done right. Before anythin' else, Ah need ta find the seeds.

Yeah, thought it might get a bit trickier. Well, you're either in luck or completely out of it when it comes to that. The Malnosso may have brought a few of the seeds you need and dropped 'em off in one of the shops. If they did, great. If they didn't... well, not much we can do.

Ah'll haveta look later on once the rain slows down a bit. Didn't see any before, but Ah wasn't lookin' real hard, either.

Shame about the rain though. I don't blame ya for not wanting to go outside, it's pouring hard enough to keep even me grounded today.

[Applejack nods, smiling. So many creatures offering to help with the zap apples. She just hopes she can get some planted.]

Yeah, the rain's gettin' a li'l too hard ta get much done around the farm today. But... grounded? Are ya a flier?

[That question gets a beaming grin as response. She'll never get tired of being able to brag, just a little.]

Yeeeeep! I'm a witch, though... do you guys know what that is? I never asked Rainbow if you have witches in your world.

[She whoops a laugh.] Why ain't Ah surprised Rainbow knows every other flier in this place?

We got witches back home, alright. Not too many, but they're there.

Well it is pretty hard to avoid running into her up in the sky!

Alright, then you know what I mean already. I knew you had magic users, but I wasn't sure if the terminology was the same.

We got all kindsa magic users, ta tell the truth... but we thought the zebra livin' just outside of town was a witch for the longest time. A friend'a mine even made a song.

[Although she's glad she hasn't had Pinkie going off on her Evil Enchantress song in a while.]

...Ah'm Applejack, by the way. Any friend'a Dash is a friend'a mine.

Yep, she just got here. [...] She'll find ya soon enough, trust me. She knows everypony back home, an' Ah'm sure it won't take her long ta get started here.

Well, Ponyville wasn't exactly huge, but it's kinda Pinkie's thing, gettin' ta know everypony.

Kinda surprised I haven't heard her over the journals then. Those things are absolutely great for that.

[Low chuckle.] Probably won't be too much longer. Tryin' ta get her somethin' ta eat first, though.
