1st Rodeo [Voice]

[It's been raining for days and Applejack is getting bored. She found the farm not too long after she arrived, and the rain wasn't exactly stopping her from tending to everything, but the weather's turn for the worse today is definitely an impediment. And so, she's cooped up inside, running out of things to do. But hey, that's what this journal is here for, right?]

How come nopony told me 'bout this farm y'all got here? This is great! It just needs some more apple trees and it'll be just like home. Or... well, as close as Ah can get it. But that reminds me...

Have any of y'all ever heard'a zap apples? They're magic, but they're downright tasty an' real particular 'bout how they're grown an' harvested. Mah Granny Smith's the one who normally makes all the jam an' such, but if Ah can grow some zap apples here, Ah'd sure be happy ta share whatever Ah can make. Might not be quite as good, but Ah think Ah've picked up a thing'er two. Anypony got any ideas?

[It's something to think about, at least! Something that isn't baking more apple fritters, in any case.]

Ah remember, but that was ages ago for me. It was cider season 'fore I woke up in the woods here.

[How is everypony from so far back? She feels like some kind of time traveler.]

Cider season? But that's so long from now...

[She takes a step closer and looks Applejack in the eyes. There is no one in the world more honest than her. If she says that it's cider season, then maybe it really is. Her eyes narrow, giving the orange pony a quick glance to make sure she wasn't some kind of clone, or trick, before giving up with a soft sigh.]

...Or not.

[She feels horrible about all of this. Really. Ears drooping, she sits down on her haunches.]

Ah'm sorry, Pinkie, Ah know it's real confusin'. But we've got each other here ta figure it out together, right? Nopony's facin' this alone.

You're right. As long as we've got each other, then we'll be okay.

[Her lips slowly start to curl back into her normal smile.]

Thanks for being so honest with me, Applejack. I don't think I could hear all this from anypony else, but you.

[She can't help but smile at that.] Anytime, Pinkie. It's hard enough figurin' everythin' out when ya first show up here. Ah'm not gonna leave a friend ta figure it out on her own.

[Winona shaking some rainwater loose from her fur brings her attention back to the weather and everything else at hoof here. With a laugh, she gets back up.]

'Sides, we've got plenty of time ta talk today. Didn't you say you were hungry?

For a taste of Apple Family sweets? How could I not be! [She giggles.]

[Applejack grins.] Good thing Ah made a lotta apple fritters, then. Let's get ya somethin' ta eat an' then we can try an' get a hold of the others.

[She grins and nods.]

Okie-dokie-lokie! Lead the way, Applejack.

[She starts back towards the door, Winona hopping to her paws to get ready to head back out, tail wagging. AJ pauses and glances back at Pinkie with a smile.]

If there's anythin' you're wantin' ta bring back with us, Ah got some space in my saddlebags. But you're gonna wanna keep a hold on that talkin' journal, that's for sure.

[Pinkie turns to her side and gently picks Gummy up and onto her back.]

I'm gonna need some bigger saddlebags for all the great things I've found! I could always come back though, right?

'Course ya can. Ah don't think it can keep rainin' this hard for too much longer.

[Pinkie happily trots past Applejack, nudging the door open. It's still pouring rain, but not even that could pull the smile off the pink pony's face.]

Gummy loves the rain anyway.

Good thing, too. It's a li'l bit of a run back ta the farm.

[She follows Pinkie out into the rain, lets Winona catch up, and then turns in the direction of the farmlands.]

You have a farm here, too? [She giggles.]

Does that mean Sugarcube Corner is here, too?

Nopony was takin' care of the farm they had here. Ah couldn't just let it sit there.

[Grinning, she picks up speed into a reaching trot.]

It's not called Sugarcube Corner, but they've got a bakery in town. Ah'm sure they could use a helpin' hoof there, too.

Really? Do you think they'd let me?

Don't see why not. They could probably use whatever help they can get.

Ooh, I can't wait to see it! I bet it's got cakes and cookies and pies and cupcakes and candy and--

[She giggles, hopping into the air with each tasty treat.]

[AJ shakes her head amusedly, chuckling under her breath as Pinkie goes on. It's so good to have her friend back.]

A li'l bit of everythin', Ah reckon.

But I'm just happy to see everypony again. When those walls came up and separated all of us, I was really worried.

Discord was a pretty tough customer, but we came through it just fine in the end. [Although it was real ugly for a while there. She's still glad Twilight was able to snap them all out of it.]

Nothin' the six of us can't handle. [Oops, wait. Spike helped a lot too.] Well... seven.

I hope we didn't beat him too badly. He wasn't so bad of a guy.

[Her hopping slows down to a normal walk.]

Anypony who thinks chocolate rain is a good idea is okay in my book.

He pulled some pretty terrible pranks on all of us, but... the chocolate rain at least wasn't too bad.

[But it took forever to clean up around the farm.]

Ah wish he'd left the crops alone, though.

Aw, it was all still delicious! Popcorn and chocolate are really good together~.

[Applejack grins.]
